Promade fans are volume fans made in advance. Each fan is a set number of ultra-fine lashes bonded together at the base, ready to pick up and dip. You'll also see them called pre-made, premade or pro-made fans. They're all the same thing.
Instead of hand-making every fan during the appointment, you pick up a finished fan, dip it and place it. That can cut a volume set's application time dramatically, and it gives you consistent fans every time. That's why so many artists now use them for some or all of their volume work.
But not all promade fans are the same. D count, diameter, curl, length, fan width and stem all change how a set looks and how it retains. This guide explains each one, compares the Posh Deluxe ranges, and shows what a full set really costs. Still deciding between handmade and promade? How to Choose Promade Fans: The 6 Specs That Matter
| Spec | What it means | How to choose |
|---|---|---|
| D count | How many lashes are in each fan, for example 4D = 4 lashes | 3–5D for soft, natural volume. 6–8D for full volume. 10D and above for mega volume. |
| Diameter | Thickness of each lash in the fan, in mm | The higher the D count, the finer the lash. As a guide: 0.07 for 3–5D, 0.05 for 6–8D, 0.03 for 10D and above. This keeps the fan light enough for the natural lash. |
| Curl | How strongly each lash curves | C for a natural lift, CC for a bit more lift, D for a dramatic, open-eye look. See our lash curl guide. |
| Length | Length of the fan in mm | Follow your lash map. Mixed-length trays are handy for mapping without juggling lots of trays. |
| Fan width | How far the fan spreads | Narrow fans give a denser, neater set. Wide fans give a fluffier, more textured set. |
| Stem | The section from the base to where the fan opens | Short stems open close to the lash line for a fuller look at the base. Long stems open higher up, giving a sleeker, wispier look. |
The golden rule: the fan must never be too heavy for the natural lash it sits on. On fine or weak lashes, drop the D count or the diameter. Our guide to lash extension diameter and length explains how to match weight to the natural lash.

What Do Promade Fans Cost Per Set?
Promade fans cost very little per client. Assuming about 200 fans for a full set and 100 for an infill, at October 2026 prices:
| Fans | Price per box | Cost per fan | Full set (200 fans) | Infill (100 fans) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wide 760 (4D or 6D) | $10.78 | 1.4c | $2.84 | $1.42 |

| Rapid 8D | $20.95 | 4.2c | $8.38 | $4.19 |

| Rapid 14D | $31.95 | 6.4c | $12.78 | $6.39 |
The bigger saving is time. If promade fans cut even 30 minutes from a volume set, that's an extra appointment slot every few sets. That's worth far more than the fans cost. Faster sets are one of the levers in our guide to whether a lash business is profitable.
Tips for Working with Promade Fans
- Pick up at the base. Grip the fan at the stem with your volume tweezers and peel it off the strip in one smooth movement. Don't squeeze the fan itself.
- Dip only the base. Promade fans are already bonded, so you only need enough glue to attach the base to the natural lash. Too much glue wicks up into the fan and closes it.
- Wrap the base along the natural lash. Make sure the stem sits flat along the natural lash, not just touching at one point. Proper base contact is what gives good retention.
- Mix promade and handmade. Many artists use promade fans for most of the set and hand-make a few fans for the inner corners or detail work. If you want to perfect your own fans, read how to make volume lash fans.
- Keep trays closed between clients. This keeps fans clean, dust-free and in shape.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between promade, pre-made and premade fans?
Nothing. They're all names for the same thing: volume fans made in advance and bonded at the base, ready to apply.
Are promade fans good for retention?
Yes, when they're well made and applied correctly. Choose fans with a thin, pointy base and minimal glue, match the fan's weight to the natural lash, and wrap the base along the natural lash.
What D count should I use?
3–5D for soft, natural volume, 6–8D for full volume, and 10D or more for mega volume. Always go lighter on fine or weak natural lashes.
Narrow or wide promade fans?
Narrow fans create a denser, neater set. Wide fans create a fluffier, more textured set. Many artists keep both to suit different clients and looks.
What's the difference between long stem and short stem fans?
Short-stem fans open close to the lash line for fullness at the base. Long-stem fans open higher up for a sleeker, wispier look.
